Dimitris Svintridis, guitarist - composer

He was born in Komotini, originating from the village of Xylagani in the prefecture of Rodopi. He holds a degree in guitar with prof. Panagiotis Ioannou, a diploma in guitar with soloist Kostas Kotsiolis, as well as a diploma in composition with the international conductor and composer Theodoros Antoniou. In the period 2009-2011 he attended electronic music composition classes with composer Panagiotis Kokoras. He attended guitar seminars by L. Brouwer (Cuba), R. Aussel (Argentina), M. Barrueco (Cuba), J. Castro-Valbi (Peru), J.Zapka (Slovakia), A. Carlevaro (Uruguay), H. Keppel (Germany).
As a solo guitarist, he has appeared with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) together with the President of the Association of Greek Guitarists Stelios Golgaris, Thessaloniki City Symphony Orchestra the orchestra "Friends of Music of Thrace" and with the ‘’Ricercar” orchestra.
He has won 11 awards and distinctions in both national and international competitions. Author of more than 90 compositions that have been presented at the Athens, Thessaloniki and Komotini Concert Halls, at the New Conservatory and the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus, and at festivals in many other places in Greece and abroad (Spain, Italy, Moscow, Bulgaria).His works have been performed by the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra of Athens the Sliven and Burgas Symphony Orchestra of Bulgaria, string orchestra “NOMOS” and many more.
Ηas published 4 CDs with his own works. Ιs the founder of the musical group <Thracian Trio> for Violin, Clarinet and Piano where they perform his works.
My first book was released in 2024 <<25 STUDIES FOR GUITAR>> with the well-known music company PHILIPPOS NAKAS
From 2002 to 2004 he was the artistic director of the Thracian Conservatory in Komotini. From 2007 to 2009 he was a member of the Artistic Committee of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. In 2014 he took over as artistic director of the Thrace Guitar Festival, and in 2018 as artistic director of the Komotini Classical Music Festival, positions he holds to this day. He is also a member of the Union of Greek Composers. Since 2006 he has been a classical guitar teacher at the Music School of Komotini.
